Meltdown At The Buffet

Week 5 of Kindergarten

The excitement is gone. He no longer jumps for joy as he puts on his TMNT shell book bag. He drags his feet down theΒ three flights of stairs from our apartment to the bus stop. By the time I get off from work and pick him up he’s done. More than done. Cranky and disgusted. He wants to eat and then fall out asleep.

Tonight I took them to Cici’s Pizza for dinner on the way home. Mistake.

Meltdown #1: He hit his head on the door on the way in.

The extremely nice cashier gave him four tokens for the arcade games to cheer him up. Big brother gotΒ four tokens as well. Unfortunately, the tokens created yet another meltdown.

Meltdown #2:

Aaron: I didn’t even realize! (tears streaming down his face. His voice getting louder and louder) I didn’t know that game took two tokens.

Me: Calm down. Where did the other tokens go? You had four.

Aaron: That one took one. That one took two. That one took one. AND I DIDN’T REALIZE THAT I DIDN’T HAVE ANYMORE BECAUSE THAT ONE TOOK ONE!!!!! (more tears…dramatic sobbing…) THIS IS THE WORST DAY EVER!!!!

Me: Aaron, calm down. Do you want more to eat?

Meltdown #3

Aaron: NO! I DIDN’T EVEN GET MY POPSICLE PARTY AT SCHOOL TODAY!

He lays his forehead flat on the table and continues to sob uncontrollably.

Me: Oh no, did they say why? Maybe they’ll have it tomorrow.

Aaron: I DON’T KNOW. THEY DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT IT. THIS IS THE WORST DAY.

Things didn’t get any better at the restaurant. By the time we drove back home he was passed out in the back seat. Between my purse, bookbags and three flights of stairs I’m no longer able to carry him in the house. I wake up the cranky beast and as we walk up the sidewalk he mumbles….

Aaron: Kindergarten sucks…

That didn’t take long. Now I have two kids that don’t like school. This is going to be a lot of fun πŸ™‚

Awww … hope it gets better! It’s hard being a kindergartner! πŸ™‚ My son just started this year, too, but it’s only half day so the transition hasn’t been bad.

I had to send this to my daughter. She has eight children, including three adopted, ages 22-10. She loved it also.☺️
